JW Marriott Tripoli
Project Overview
The JW Marriott Hotel in Tripoli, Libya, is a significant architectural project aimed at revitalizing the capital city during a period of transformation. The hotel is situated along the Mediterranean coast, and its design reflects both modern and traditional elements, capturing the essence of Libyan culture.
Architectural Concept
The hotel features a distinctive square plan for the guestroom spaces, diverging from the typical rectangular layout. The building's mass is designed as a thin, elongated box with a double-skin façade. This façade not only regulates sunlight but also ensures privacy for guests. The exterior design incorporates Arabic patterns, creating a visual connection to the region's cultural heritage. At night, the double-skin façade illuminates with LED lights, establishing the hotel as a new landmark in Tripoli.
Key Design Features:
- Double-Skin Façade: This feature is crucial in controlling solar gain and enhancing privacy, while also serving as a canvas for Arabic-inspired patterns that connect the structure to its cultural context.
- Nighttime Illumination: The façade glows with LED lights, transforming the hotel into a vibrant beacon on the Tripoli skyline.
